Academy Graduation

For those of you unaware, I (Marty) have spent the last 4 weeks in Boise, at Corrections Academy.

I took the job for the women's prison in May, and they sent us to the Academy on July 7th. It has been a lot of work, and a lot of fun. I have met a lot of great people in the department, and feel really at home here.

The academy consists of classroom courses as well as practical experiences. Our courses ranged from inmate con games to mental health. Our practical courses were Arrest techniques, which ranged from restraints (hand cuffs) to self defense and pain compliance.

We went to the range and qualified on pistols as well as shot guns.

Finally we had the great experience of getting a nice dose of oleoresin capsicum spray, other wise known as law enforcement grade pepper spray.

If and when I get some pictures from that, I will share them.

Graduation was on Friday the 1st, and though I didn't garner any awards, my grades on the tests were in the top of the class. Thanks for every ones support.

I remember having a picture taken there. I wish my job there had ended on a more positive note. C'est la vie. I'm happier now than I have ever been.

I hope you are doing well in your job!
